Yamal starts commercial operation of SSJ 100
At the end of April, Yamal Air Transport Company started operating Sukhoi Superjet 100LR (extended-range version of the Russian-built regional jet), a new type in the airline’s fleet. Russian regional carrier announced that the 103-seat aircraft, with tail number RA-89034 (s. n. 95062), made its first commercial flight from Salekhard to Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport and later same day departed Moscow for Tyumen. Within the summer schedule, the aircraft will operate flights to the holiday destination Simferopol, in Crimea, from Yekaterinburg (three times a week) and Ufa (four times a week).
Yamal signed the operational leasing agreement with the aircraft’s owner, the State Transport Leasing Company, at the end of February. A month later, the aircraft was ferried to Salekhard. It is the first out of 25 SSJ 100 aircraft the carrier is expected to receive from the lessor before the end of this year.
Yamal Air Transport Company became the fifth Russian commercial operator of SSJ 100 after Aeroflot (which launched SSJ operation in 2011), Yakutia (2013), Gazprom avia (2014) and Red Wings (2015).
