Volga-Dnepr Group completes C-check on an Iraqi Airways Boeing 777
Sharjah-based VD Gulf, which is part of Volga-Dnepr Technics within Russia’s Volga Dnepr Group, has completed its first major maintenance project on a Boeing 777 aircraft. The C-check, along with airworthiness directives (ADs) and service bulletins (SBs) on the widebody aircraft operated by Iraqi Airways took 14 days to complete, the technical service provider reports.
The Boeing 777 is the latest addition to VD Gulf’s maintenance portfolio, which also includes Boeing 747 and 737CL/NG and Airbus A320 family aircraft. VD Gulf announced the expansion of its capabilities after winning the Bermuda aviation authorities approval to maintain and repair the Boeing 777 aircraft type in February of this year.
“We are always developing and looking into the future together with our customers. Therefore, in connection with the trend of many operators moving to the Boeing 777 type aircraft, it was important for us to respond in a timely manner to our customers’ requests,” comments Ayrat Gilmutdinov, VD Gulf’s director for commerce.
AirBridgeCargo, a scheduled cargo airline within the Volga-Dnepr Group (VDG), has signed a purchase and leaseback pre-delivery financing agreement with the Dubai-based DAE Capital for three new Boeing 777 freighters. In total, VDG’s carriers intend to acquire 29 freighter versions of the Boeing 777 as per a letter of intent signed with Boeing last July.
