Russia’s United Engine Corporation has appointed Yury Shmotin as the corporation’s deputy general director and new chief designer. He now replaces UEC’s former chief designer, Valery Geykin. Shmotin’s assignments and responsibilities will include development of UEC’s design, scientific and technological potential and coordination of all of UEC’s design bureaus.
Yury Shmotin, who received a degree in aviation, started his career in companies, that later on formed UEC, in 1995. He came to NPO Saturn in 2001 and two years later was appointed to deputy chief designer. He became the company’s chief designer in late 2010.
