Ukrainian airlines’ traffic surges 29 per cent
Ukrainian airlines’ passenger traffic growth rate is picking up once again. For the period from January to November this year, traffic surged 29%, compared to the same period last year. In the first ten months the growth rate was 27.5%, and in the first nine months, 26.7%.
According to operational results published by the Ukrainian State Aviation Administration, the country’s carriers served cumulatively 7.583 million passengers since the beginning of the year. Out of this number, 6.855 million passengers used international services, up 29.2% over the same period of 2015.
Although 2015 demonstrated a general downward trend in Ukrainian airlines’ cumulative traffic, in November last year it recovered almost to 2014 pre-crisis levels. This year the Ukrainian air transport industry has recovered from the 2015 decline and is growing once again.
The same tendency, albeit somewhat more moderate, is observed in the operational results of Ukrainian airports. From January to November all of the country’s airports handled 11.844 million passengers, 19.1% growth. On international destinations the traffic grew 17.9%, to 10.358 million passengers.
From January to October this year the growth rate was 17.8%, and for the first three quarters it was 16.8%.
