The MAC Aero Interiors UK production facility is relocated to Estonia
The Magnetic MRO subsidiary is concerned about the changed economic environment in the United Kingdom
Citing changes in the current economic environment in the post-Brexit United Kingdom, whilst at the same time consolidating its aircraft interiors business under one roof, Magnetic MRO has decided to relocate the production facility of MAC Aero Interiors, its UK-based subsidiary, to its Tallinn, Estonia home base. The new facility in Estonia’s capital was officially inaugurated on 4th of March 2020.
Magnetic MRO, the China-owned, Estonia-based aircraft maintenance provider, has consolidated its aircraft interiors business under the MAC Aero Interiors name, in a move which includes the production that has been relocated from the UK as well as the expansion of DOA services and the enlargement of the Tallinn operating interiors workshop.
Magnetic MRO has already extended its POA, DOA and Part-145 certificates to fully cover the Mac Aero Interiors product portfolio. “The production facility in Magnetic MRO Tallinn has been running for several years and now it’s up to the required standard to assure readiness to execute the production of the Mac Aero Interiors product portfolio,” says Marko Männiste, managing director at MAC Aero Interiors. “Therefore, we believe that our customers will benefit from the relocated production facility because of the increased efficiency it brings (including improved turnaround times and pricing) and, by retaining the production within the European Union, we shall guarantee continuous supply after Brexit.”
With its history dating back to 1962, MAC Aero Interiors, an acknowledged expert in the retrofitting and refurbishment of lavatories, galleys, seating, partitions, stowage lockers, monuments and VIP interiors for a wide range of commercial aircraft, was acquired by Magnetic MRO in 2016. MAC Aero Interiors Ltd remains the supplier and holder of its contractual obligations.
“Our production team has streamlined the facility’s processes, while the sales team continues to bring in new opportunities and deals that feed our interiors business,” states Inga Duglas, commercial director at Magnetic MRO.
Established in 1995 and formerly known as Air Maintenance Estonia, Magnetic MRO was acquired by China’s Guangzhou Hangxin Aviation Technology in 2018.
Building on its Chinese connections, in January 2019, MAC Aero Interiors entered the Chinese aircraft cabin interiors market with the establishment of MAC Sichuan, a joint venture with Benniao Aviation, which provides cabin technical care support to aircraft owners and operators in China.
