US MRO provider StandardAero has won a four-year contract to provide Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) APS2300 auxiliary power unit (APU) services for Russian-based S7 Airlines’ fleet of Embraer E170 regional aircraft. All services will be performed at StandardAero’s Maryville, Tennessee facility.

S7 Airlines is a subsidiary of S7 Group, Russia’s second-largest a transport conglomerate. It will become the biggest Embraer operator in the country when it expands its fleet of E170s from the current 13 to 17 by late 2018.

“The decision to select StandardAero followed a competitive tender with four bids from independent MRO organizations,” reveals Aleksey Shatko, who manages S7 Airlines’ engineering centre.

“Being selected by S7 is another big win for StandardAero’s increasing footprint in the Russian airline marketplace,” enthuses Peter Turner, president of StandardAero’s airlines and fleets division.

In December 2016, StandardAero was awarded two multi-year APU contracts to support Russia’s Yamal Airlines. These included a three-year agreement to provide MRO services on Honeywell GTCP36-150RJ APUs for the carrier’s fleet of Bombardier CRJ-200LR aircraft, and a five-year agreement supporting Honeywell RE220 APUs on its Sukhoi Superjet 100s.

StandardAero, which was the first independent provider to service P&WC’s APS2300 APUs and is a Honeywell authorized service centre, is one of the world’s largest independent providers of such services, including engine and airframe maintenance, repair and overhaul, engine component repair, engineering services, interior completions, and paint applications. The company celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2011 and, in 2015, was acquired by Veritas Capital, a leading private equity firm headquartered in New York City.
