The Russian MRO provider Engineering Holding has signed a long-term agreement with Zurich-based SR Technics to set up a maintenance shop for CFM International CFM56-5B and CFM56-7B turbofan engines, which are operated by airlines in Russia and the CIS.

The shop will be organized on the premises of Engineering Holding subsidiary S7 Engineering at Domodedovo Airport in Moscow. The maintenance station is expected to begin operations this summer, and will provide those services that do not require the engines to be removed from wing.

SR Technics has committed to support the station certification process according to Russian and European standards. The company also plans to train Russian personnel in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.

Subsidiaries of the Engineering Holding in Novosibirsk and Mineralnye Vody are also planning to offer engine maintenance services. These stations will focus primarily on Russian airlines, the company’s spokesperson emphasized.

In cases when local stations do not have sufficient capacity for in-depth repairs, customers will be directed to SR Technics’ facilities in Zurich.
