S7 Technics to restore Ural Airlines’ seat covers
Russian MRO operator S7 Technics’ cabin interior facility is gearing up to sign a contract for restoring leather covers on seats fitted onto Airbus A320 aircraft operated by Ural Airlines. Tatyana Kharitonova, the S7 Technics interior facility manager, shared the news with Russian Aviation Insider at the recent MRO Russia & CIS convention organized by ATO Events.
Work to restore the leather covers on the operator’s passenger seats to their original pristine condition are scheduled to begin in May this year.
S7 Technics launched its cabin renewal business in April 2016, thus expanding the scope of services it offers its customers. This helped drive the facility’s performance and improve its offer for aircraft operators. The seat repair facility has since restored 3,689 seat covers for S7 Airlines, 1,210 for sister carrier Globus, and 1,560 for Pobeda Airlines, an LLC subsidiary of Aeroflot group.
Having first built requisite experience, the facility then started offering seat cover repair services as part of routine C-check inspections. The company’s roomy facility and qualified staff enable it to provide quality and timely services. In May 2017, the enterprise restored seat covers for Rossiya Airlines and Tajikistan’s Somon Air. In the course of C-checks, the provider restored 120 covers and magazine pockets inside just 12 days.
Recently the facility has also launched cover lamination service. Seats thus treated are very popular with operators because their weight is lower. Another service, a teflon coating for toilets offered since half a year ago, is not available elsewhere in the former Soviet Union. The coating is extremely durable, the company says.
The interior renewal facility repairs seat covers and reupholsters seats not only for coach but also for business class cabins and pilot seats for Globus, S7 Airlines, and Somin Air. The facility performed 35,000 man-hours in 2017, up 17% on 2016.
