S7 Group invests in online facilitator for car rental, transfers
Affirming its substantial interest in broadening its digital capabilities and services, S7 Group (Russia’s second largest airline group and the parent company of the carriers S7 Airlines and Globus) has invested in GetTransfer, a European online marketplace for pre-booked, long-distance transfers.
The online service for transfers, which has raised its Series A funding round from S7 Group, plans to use the additional funds to further expand its offerings in the UK and the US.
S7 Investment Director Oleg Gordienko commented: “We see significant cost benefits for our clients in partnering up with GetTransfer, and are excited about being part of this new and fast-growing mobility start-up. Each segment of travel will be more connected going forward. We share the [partner] company’s vision and believe in its long-term prospects.”
S7 Group carried more than 14.2 million passengers in 2017. “So the synergies between S7 and ourselves are obvious,” observes Alexander Pershikov, who founded GetTransfer in 2015. “Together we will be able to help our clients save on travel costs while also offering a convenient and easily accessible service.”
Over the last 12 months, GetTransfer has significantly grown its footprint for business and leisure travelers in Europe. More than 13,000 vehicles are currently registered on its platform, and the service can now be used in some 100 countries worldwide.
S7 Group is the largest private aviation and aerospace holding company in Russia comprising air transportation, MRO, and space operations businesses.
