Russia’s Tolmachevo airport reports passenger growth
Tolmachevo airport, which serves Russia’s Siberian city of Novosibirsk, welcomed a total of 760,785 passengers in January and February this year, including 508,612 domestically (up 27% year-on-year) and 252,173 internationally (up 21.6%). Novosibirsk’s transit passengers climbed 46% to account for 20% of overall traffic.
The airport served 3,916 aircraft movements over the period, up 18.7% year-on-year.
The list of the fastest growing Russian destinations from Novosibirsk in February included Krasnoyarsk (+218%), Talakan (+143.7%), Tomsk (+124%), Chelyabinsk (+108%), and Blagoveshchensk (+101%). The top international routes were Dubai (+215%), Phuket (+163%), Seoul (108.7%), Yerevan (+85.7%), and Astana (+73%).
The airport’s cargo traffic also grew, albeit at a slower rate of 15.7%, to 4,237 tons.
Novosibirsk ranked eighth in Russia’s top 10 list of airports in 2017, welcoming over 5 million passengers (up 22.2% on 2016). Russia’s second biggest airline group, S7 operates out of Tolmachevo.
