Russia’s Azur Air carried more than 1 million passengers in six months
...but this is only 45% of the pre-pandemic level
Azur Air, Russian leisure charter specialist, carried 1.04 million passengers on 3,866 flights in the first half of this year.
“Despite the external challenges faced by the Russian aviation industry, Azur Air continues its stable work in the interests of Russian tourists,” the airline said in a statement.
The challenges are indeed serious, this is evident when comparing January-June data with the operational results of the country’s largest charter carrier in 2019 – then 2.32 million passengers were served over the same period, i.e. more than twice as many.
Nevertheless, in the new environment, the airline is looking for opportunities to launch new flights and focuses on keeping high punctuality of its charter flight programs, with on-time performance reaching 95%, increasing by 0.8 p. p.
Azur Air expanded the geography of flights to Turkey this summer season. Flights to Antalya are operated from several cities not represented in the route network of the company last summer season – from Astrakhan, Mineralnye Vody, Omsk, Perm, Sochi, Surgut and Tyumen.
In addition, flight programs to the Egyptian resorts of the Red Sea – to Hurghada and Sharm el Sheikh – from six Russian cities continue.
The airline, together with its partners in the tourism market, has already started forming the fall-winter schedule.
