Russia gains second major provider for CFM56 MRO services
Aeroflot’s new maintenance arm, AeroTrustTechnics, completed its first shop visits for engines powering the A320ceo fleet

In a significant development for Russia’s civil aviation maintenance sector, AeroTrustTechnics — a new subsidiary of the Aeroflot Group—has officially commenced CFM56 engine overhaul services. The company recently completed its first three shop visits on CFM56-5B engines, which power the ubiquitous Airbus A320ceo aircraft.
This milestone establishes a second major Russian organization with full-cycle maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capability for the CFM56 engine family. These engines are the workhorses of the Russian narrowbody fleet, found on the in-service Airbus A320ceo and Boeing 737NG families. Until now, the primary domestic provider for this critical service has been the private company S7 Technics, which has repaired close to 400 of these turbofans since 2022.
The inaugural repairs at AeroTrustTechnics, based at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport, involved comprehensive work on the high-pressure compressor module, including restoration of both rotor and stator components. Following the work, the company issued its first Component Airworthiness Release certificates—formal documentation attesting to the engines’ return to service condition.
The expansion of in-house technical capabilities enhances MRO support not only for the Aeroflot Group’s own substantial fleet but also positions the company to compete for third-party contracts in the regional market. The group’s capability was solidified in October 2025 when it received the FAP-145 certification from Russia’s aviation authority, Rosaviatsia. This certification formally approves AeroTrustTechnics for the repair of CFM56-5B and CFM56-7B engines and their components.
The Aeroflot Group airlines operate a combined fleet of 110 A320ceo and 93 B737NG aircraft, representing a significant captive base for the new MRO provider.
