Novosibirsk’s Tolmachevo reports 23% traffic surge in January

Novosibirsk’s Tolmachevo airport served almost 396,000 passengers in the first month of 2018, a 23% improvement year-on-year. The number of passengers on domestic routes reached 262,855 (up 24%); international traffic stood at 133,131 (up 21%).

The number of transfer passengers increased by 35%.

The most dynamically growing destinations domestically were Gorno-Altaysk (up 326%), Krasnoyarsk (up 247.9%), Perm (up 210%), Chelyabinsk (up 164%), Talakan (up 108.8%), and Novy Urengoy (up 98.8%). Internationally, there were Dubai (up 233%), Phuket (up 150%), Seoul (up 111%), Hong Kong (up 105%), Astana (up 77.7%), and Shymkent (up 45%).

The most popular destinations during the first holiday week were Phuket, Dubai, Seoul, Goa, Hong Kong, Yerevan, Astana, and Harbin on international routes, and Neryungri, Krasnoyarsk, and Talakan domestically.

Russia’s eighth busiest airport handled 2,037 aircraft movements in January, 17.7% up year-on-year. Freight and mail traffic increased by 21.7% to 2,054 tons.

Tolmachevo is Russia’s largest transit air hub to the east of the Urals, and offers pivotal connections between Europe and Asia. Its terminal capacity for domestic traffic is 1,800 passengers per hour, and 1,300 for international flights. The airport has two ICAO I and II runways.
