New aircraft maintenance provider launches in Russia
Smart Technic begins line maintenance operations in Moscow Sheremetyevo and Arkhangelsk

Smart Technic, an affiliate of Arkhangelsk-based regional carrier Smartavia, has officially entered the aircraft maintenance market after securing certification from the Ministry of Transport and Rosaviatsiya. The approval positions the company as Russia’s newest MRO provider.
The company is registered in Arkhangelsk and operates out of that city, as well as Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport—one of Smartavia’s primary hubs.
The certificate, issued in late December, currently authorizes Smart Technic to perform line maintenance on CFM56-powered Boeing 737NG aircraft.
According to General Director Mikhail Khaustov, the company is initially focusing on servicing Smartavia’s fleet but plans to expand its client base to include other 737NG operators. As a next step, Smart Technic aims to add new aircraft types to its capabilities and take on heavier maintenance work.
Founded in August 2025, Smart Technic is 26%-owned by Smartavia, with a controlling 51% stake held by Roman Seleznev, who also oversees the Nordic MRO Rus project at St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo Airport.
The new venture fills a gap left by Nord-Technik, a previous MRO provider closely linked to Smartavia (formerly Nordavia), which filed for bankruptcy and was liquidated in 2022.
