Magnetic MRO is to produce record number of in-house-made interior details
The recently signed contract between Magnetic MRO – the Chinese-owned, Estonia-based provider of aircraft technical care – and Finnish flag carrier Finnair, covers complete paint works, full interior refurbishments and the maintenance of 12 of the airline’s ATR 72’s operated by its partner company Norra. Part of the deal requires Magnetic’s interior team to produce its largest number ever of new in-house-made details for a single interior project. These include new kick-strips, stickers, latches and hinges for overhead bins, and other design elements.
“Their [Finnair] attention to detail and strict standards for the interior design of their aircraft has lifted our team to new heights and has made us work even harder. This project has been an amazing learning experience and we’re happy to work with an airline so committed to the comfort of its passengers. We hope this is just a kick-off for further design and production projects with our neighbouring flag carrier,” says Magnetic MRO’s Interior project manager Pärtel-Peeter Kruuv.
In addition to the aircraft interiors, where all 12 aircraft will receive full refurbishment, the project includes the painting of overhead bins, attendant seats, galleys, bin doors, stairs and linings to achieve a fresh look for the aircraft interior; as well as the complete refurbishment of the lavatories and the installation of new seats and carpets. Magnetic MRO will also be Finnair’s partner for carrying out maintenance checks and painting the entire ATR fleet.
The refurbishment project is due to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2020.
