Magnetic MRO gains Chinese certification
The CAAC approval allows the company to provide maintenance servicing of China-registered aircraft and their engines
Magnetic MRO, the Estonia-headquartered, China-owned aircraft maintenance organisation, has received a Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) certification that allows the company to expand its capabilities and provide maintenance services on China-registered aircraft and their engines.
The certification complements the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) company’s existing European Aviation Safety Agency (EASE) and US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certificates already held by Magnetic MRO.
According to the MRO’s representatives, the certification approval process is well established, with both the application and the processing carried out digitally on the Internet via the Flight Standards Oversight Program (FSOP) MRO Certification & Surveillance System (MCSS). Prior to the certificate being awarded, a letter of intent is required from the Chinese customer.
“We are delighted to have received this certificate. Possession of the CAAC certificate allows us to expand our service offerings to Chinese airlines and also allows us to perform maintenance in the region. It acknowledges the qualifications we have and will have a positive influence, strengthening our positions in the region,” points out Francis Liu, board member at Magnetic MRO.
Magnetic MRO already has business in China. Building on its Chinese connections, MAC Aero Interiors, its commercial aircraft cabin interiors arm, entered the Chinese aircraft cabin interiors market with the establishment of a joint venture with Benniao Aviation whereby MAC Sichuan, launched in January last year, now provides cabin technical care support to aircraft owners and operators in China.
Established in 1995, and formerly known as Air Maintenance Estonia, Magnetic MRO was acquired in 2018 by China’s Guangzhou Hangxin Aviation Technology.
