Sukhoi Civil Aircraft company (SCAC) reclaimed its Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) regional aircraft from Laos after its operator, Lao Central, went out of business.

In 2013 the aircraft (s.n. 95026) was delivered to Lao Central airline, which suspended flights the same year. In mid-July, the aircraft was ferried to Zhukovsky airfield, the company told Russian Aviation Insider.

SCAC also shed light on the fate of the three SSJ100s that had been delivered to the Indonesia’s Sky Aviation airline in 2013. The company ceased operations in 2014. One of these aircraft is to return to Zhukovsky in a few days’ time. “The other two will be ferried back before the end of the year,” according to a company spokesperson.

According to some sources, the aircraft with the serial number 95027 will be the first to return to Russia. The other two Superjet 100s in question have serial numbers 95022 and 95031.

It has not yet been decided who will operate all of the reclaimed aircraft. “The aircraft will undergo diagnostics and maintenance, after that the schedule and plans for their further operation will be defined,” explained SCAC.

Lao Central ordered three SSJ100s in total, but the manufacturer didn’t manage to deliver two aircraft (with serial numbers 95030 and 95037), and they were acquired by the Special Flight Detachment (known for its Russian acronim SLO) Rossiya. These aircraft “are registered by the Ministry of Transport and transferred to the customer,” said SCAC. Administrative Department of the President of the Russian Federation, which manages SLO Rossiya, has not yet confirmed the fact of putting the aircraft into operation.
