Kyrgyz airports traffic increased by 2.4% in 2015
The holding company Manas International Airport (MAM), which includes five international and six regional airports in Kyrgyzstan, served a total of 3.04 million passengers in 2015. The passenger flow growth amounted to 2.4% as compared to 2.97 million passengers served by the airports in 2014, МАМ reports.
The number of passengers grew mostly thanks to international destinations, where 2.02 million passengers were served. This is 3.4% increase over the amount of passengers carried during the same period in 2014. On domestic routes, 1.02 million passengers were served by 11 airports, which is an increase of 0.4% over 2014.
In the meantime, the number of flights handled decreased. In 2015, the MAM Holding handled 28.518 thousand flights (19.2 thousand on international and 9.29 thousand on domestic routes). In 2014, this figure stood at 28.55 thousand, 18.93 thousand out of them being international flights and 9.62 thousand domestic flights.
The number of passengers having travelled through the country’s largest airport Manas (in Bishkek) has not been specified. It is known though that throughout 2014, the main Kyrgyz airport served 1.68 million passengers. Therefore, other air hubs, including Issyk-Kul, Osh and Batken airports, accounted in for 1.29 million passengers in 2014.
As reported before, the Kyrgyz government has recently come out with a program of civil aviation development in 2015-2020. It says that, according to optimistic forecasts, the country’s annual air passenger traffic will have reached 4.5 million by 2020. According to MAM, the total passenger flow of all airports has been showing a steady growth from 2009.
