flydubai to launch daily service to Sheremetyevo

UAE-based carrier flydubai will start a daily service between Dubai and Moscow’s Sheremetyevo, reads a press release from the carrier. The new route, to be launched on November 29, will bring the Dubai – Moscow frequency to twice daily: the airline already flies to Vnukovo.
“We are excited to be offering our passengers more options to access two different points of the Russian capital,” commented flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith. “The launch of our new daily flights to Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport is based on the increase in demand for more affordable and reliable direct links to the UAE and beyond.”
flydubai has experienced impressive growth on the Russian market, including a 45% year-on-year increase in traffic in the first half of 2017.
The carrier began offering services to Russia in 2014. Aside from its original Vnukovo route, the airline has since added 11 destinations, including Kazan, Krasnodar, Mineralnye Vody, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, and Yekaterinburg, and just this month Voronezh, Makhachkala, and Ufa.
flydubai flies to over 95 destinations in 44 countries. Earlier this year, the UAE implemented a new visa regime which grants Russian citizens a 30-day visa on arrival with an option to extend for another 30 days. This move has contributed to the growth in passengers to the Emirates, reports Dubai Airports.
