Avion Express entrusts the heavy maintenance of its six A320s to Joramco

The Jordan-based MRO arm of Dubai Aerospace Enterprise reveals an agreement with Lithuanian ACMI operator

Avion Express The Avion Express -- Joramco agreement covers the heavy maintenance on six of the carrier’s Airbus A320 aircraft (Joramco)

In a strategic move which embraces expanding into the eastern European market, Joramco, the Amman, Jordan-based maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) and engineering division of Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE), has entered into a first agreement with Avion Express, Lithuania’s aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance (ACMI) operator.

The agreement, which was affirmed in August 2019, covers the heavy maintenance on six of the carrier’s Airbus A320 aircraft, for which checks began in October last year and have continued into the New Year, with the final aircraft currently undergoing maintenance and due to be delivered in early March.

Jeff Wilkinson, Joramco‘s chief executive, observes: “The agreement with Avion Express marks a strategic move forward as Joramco expands further into the eastern European market.”

Avion Express is part of the fast-growing Avia Solutions Group that includes FL Technics, the Lithuanian provider of MRO services. Leonids Trofimovics, its base maintenance manager enthuses: “Professional, swift and a sharp approach – that’s what we’ve seen from Joramco so far during our aircraft maintenance. We hope the Avion Express and Joramco partnership will extend even further and provide great results in the future.”

In the course of 2019, a favourable wet-lease market helped the carrier to register a 15 per cent year-on-year production increase and expand its fleet to 22 Airbus A320-family aircraft.

Over the last few years, Avion Express has been providing ACMI services to many airlines, including SunExpress, OnurAir, Norwegian Air, Condor and Sky Angkor Airlines. For the current 2019-2020 winter season, ACMI operator has signed wet-lease agreements with the European carrier LOT Polish Airlines and VietJet Air, a Vietnamese low-cost carrier.
