PJSC Aeroflot (Moscow Exchange ticker: AFLT) today took the Best Airline in Eastern Europe award for the fifth time and fourth straight year at the Skytrax World Airline Awards, held during the Farnborough Air Show near London.

“Winning Skytrax’s Eastern European award for a fifth time is not only a sign that we consistently perform at a high level,” Aeroflot CEO Vitaly Saveliev said. “Above all, it sends a message that we can successfully develop and raise our status amid a challenging external environment, and that we can be truly competitive globally.”

The World Airline Awards – the Oscars of the civil aviation industry – are held annually by UK agency Skytrax. Winners are determined based on the world’s largest customer satisfaction survey, which Skytrax first carried out in 1999.

Millions of airline passengers from more than 100 countries take part in the annual online survey. Skytrax evaluates more than 40 service quality indicators as part of the review. Approximately 250 airlines compete for the awards.

Earlier this year Aeroflot was awarded Four Star Airline Status by Skytrax, the first Russian airline to achieve this distinction. The rating places Aeroflot alongside global peers such as Air France, Lufthansa, British Airways and Emirates.
