Aeroflot Deputy CEO wins Best Corporate Lawyer of 2017 award
Aeroflot’s Deputy CEO for Legal and Property Matters Vladimir Alexandrov has won the Reformer of the Year nomination at the prestigious Best Corporate Lawyer of 2017 awards, presented by the Russian Corporate Counsel Association (RCCA) for active involvement in pro-business regulatory reforms.
The RCCA brings together experts and heads of legal departments from leading Russian and international companies. The 10th annual awards ceremony took place on December 14 and was attended by prominent members of the legal community, law firms partners and public authorities.
The expert jury noted Vladimir Alexandrov’s active involvement in getting major legislative initiatives adopted to resolve top priority issues for the aviation sector.
In autumn 2017, amendments to the Air Code of the Russian Federation regarding luggage-free tariffs and guaranteeing free transportation of passengers’ hand luggage came into effect. These amendments will support the further development of low-cost carriers in Russia.
From next summer the law on “black lists” of unruly passengers comes into force. The measures proposed by Aeroflot and supported by President Vladimir Putin facilitated reform of a fundamental principle of civil law, namely obligations under a public contract. This initiative brings Russian legislation to global levels of best practice in preventing and counteracting disruptive behaviour on aircraft.
“Aeroflot’s bold ideas and projects contribute to on-board safety and increased accessibility of air transport for Russian citizens. Our accumulated experience and global recognition of our hard work oblige Aeroflot to make every effort to improve the legal framework for the aviation industry”, Vladimir Alexandrov said.
The Legal 500 previously included Vladimir Alexandrov in the list of the best corporate legal consultants working in Russia based on the GC Powerlist: Russia Individuals rating for 2017.
