Aeroflot and Vietnam Airlines sign strategic cooperation memorandum
Aeroflot and Vietnam Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation between the two airlines. Marking the 25 years of Vietnam Airlines’ services to Russia, the MoU suggests that, from 2019, the two flag carriers to begin code-sharing on domestic routes in Russia and Vietnam and expand their cooperation ‘across several areas of the business’.
The airlines, both members of Sky Team global airlines alliance, hope that this agreement will help to increase passenger volumes and economic and trade activities between the two nations, by expanding travel opportunities between Russia and Vietnam.
The agreement, signed on September 7, marks the 25 years of Vietnam Airlines’ services to Russia. “The MoU takes our cooperation further in the direction of a solid and mutually beneficial partnership, offering customers a wider choice of travel options and world-class quality of two leading 4-Star airlines,” said Trinh Ngoc Thanh, Executive Vice President of Vietnam Airlines
Vietnam Airlines offers three direct flights per week between Hanoi and Moscow, operated on Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Aeroflot operates nine flights per week on routes between Moscow and Vietnam with a daily flight to Hanoi and a twice weekly service to Ho Chi Minh city, utilizing Airbus A330 and Boeing 777 aircraft.
