Rossiya Airlines’ cabin crews go digital

Rossiya Airlines Rossiya Airlines’ Crew Tab Flight Dashboard (SITAOnAir)

In a big step forward in its innovative development programme, Rossiya Airlines, currently Russia’s second biggest airline, has implemented SITAOnAir’s CrewTab crew optimisation system, which will significantly enhance the management processes of its cabin crews.

Rossiya Airlines, which is part of the Aeroflot group, has worked closely with SITAOnAir, a specialist service provider for the air travel industry, to deliver a bespoke CrewTab organisation solution. Designed to optimise cabin crew work processes and their range of activities, the device is fully integrated with Rossiya’s information systems, enabling its 450 crew members to access all necessary flight information inflight via iPad fourth-generation tablet devices.

Currently, airlines typically provide such information in paper formats. Whereas in contrast, the key benefit of CrewTab lies in its ability to quickly and efficiently digitise workflows, streamline reporting, eliminate operational duplication and provide a complete flight information overview. Rossiya’s CrewTab solution is available on all types of flight: regular and seasonal services, as well as flights-to-order.

By enabling remote Internet access to airline information resources and systems, the hi-tech device will help Rossiya to improve performance at key points in the on-board service experience. It does this by helping to streamline the interaction between the airline’s internal organisational units, supporting a more efficient document flow system and enhancing staff processes.

By digitising, and further standardising its cabin crews’ data processes, CrewTab will also support Rossiya with improved business analysis and optimisation, opening up new opportunities for further operational improvements.

As global air transport becomes increasingly competitive, and passenger expectations continue to rise, all airlines are facing two major challenges to their success: how to improve the passenger experience, and also how to enhance operational efficiencies.

Airline cabin crews spend more time talking to passengers than anyone else in the business and are therefore central to the passenger experience. Deploying a tactile, responsive and information-rich technology, such as CrewTab, presents Rossiya with a number of immediate benefits whilst also advancing both the quality and the efficiency of its cabin experience offering.

Rossiya Airlines’ parent Aeroflot successfully introduced CrewTablet in 2014, having acquired 500 devices.
