Novosibirsk’s Tolmachevo airport has contributed to developing the nearby railroad station Ob into a multimodal hub of regional significance. As a result of the efforts to connect the airport to the station, traffic through Ob increased 36% in 2017, whereas the number of passengers at Tolmachevo grew 22.2%.

Ob as a regional hub holds high potential for future development of multi-modal transportation, which would make the western part of Novosibirsk Region, including Tolmachevo, easier accessible to travelers from Novosibirsk, as well as from Irkutsk, Yekaterinburg, Tyumen, and Omsk.

Reconstruction of the roads connecting the airport to the station has already been completed. The next step, launching a shuttle bus connection, is in the works. This is expected to facilitate the way to the airport for passengers from neighboring towns.
On a larger scale, Novaport-managed Tolmachevo is coordinating with airlines, most notably S7, to create a regional hub at the crossroads of routes between Europe and Asia and domestic destinations in Russia’s European territories, Siberia, the Far East, and the south of Russia.
