The Moscow MAKS air show, the largest aerospace event in all of the post-Soviet area will take place this year a month earlier than expected, on July 18-23, confirmed the organizers. The previously announced dates were August 15-20. The reason for the change is to enable the Russian aerospace industry to prepare for another important local exhibition, Army-2017 defense forum, which is scheduled for August.

The official decision to change MAKS dates prepared by Russia’s Transport Ministry with the United Aircraft Corporation, is expected to be signed soon, Nikolai Zanegin, deputy head of Aviasalon, MAKS organizing company, told Russian media.

As of today about 60% of MAKS traditional participants, both Russian and international, have booked their participation at the show.

MAKS has been held every other year since 1993 in Zhukovsky, near Moscow, traditionally in the last weeks of August. It is Russia’s main show-off for aircraft and aviation equipment. Roughly 700 exhibitors from 30 countries participated in the previous event in 2015. This year’s show will be the 13th edition of MAKS.
