Magnetic MRO completes a painting project for a VVIP business jet

Magnetic MRO, an Estonia-based, Chinese-owned, technical care and asset management organisation, has completed a VVIP business jet repaint project for an undisclosed customer.

The task of painting a Bombardier Global 5000 involved 20 individual painters who dedicated 3450 man-hours and used 550 litres of primers, paints and non-pigmented clear coats, Magnetic reveals.

“We approach every single paint project as a distinctive artwork, as they all need a special attention and require customised solutions,” states Rihards Priedkalns, manager of the Magnetic MRO Aircraft paint-shop. “However, painting a business jet, regardless of how exciting it is, refers to a totally different category due to excessive quality demands and the requirement for meticulous attention,” he notes.

With the 2017 launch of the company’s second purpose-built Paint Hangar, the Magnetic MRO Painting Team was provided with an all-in facility where painters are able to demonstrate their true potential and provide the best results. The new facility is equipped with a custom docking system, which can be tailored to serve different types of aircraft. “Working on a business jet was greatly convenient for our team and highly reassuring for our client,” adds Kaspars Podins, operations manager at Magnetic MRO.

Magnetic MRO (formerly Air Maintenance Estonia) is an EASA- and FAA-certified company headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia with a presence in Europe, Russia, Africa and the USA. Earlier this year it was acquired by China’s Guangzhou Hangxin Aviation Technology, which bought 100 per cent of its shares. The company is a specialist in a range of MRO services – varying from engines management to line and base maintenance, from components to landing gear solutions, from engineering services and asset management to interior solutions and full aircraft painting.
