Kyiv Zhulyany airport will be closed from May, 14 to May, 24 2017 for a scheduled landing strip thorough overhaul. During this period all the flights will be diverted to another Kyiv airport, Boryspil.

“This winter was very difficult with bad weather, temperature drops, ice rains and thaw. This all had an impact not only on the roads but also on the landing strip condition”, reads the airport website.

Notably Zhulyany airport has been actively building up its passenger traffic. During January 2017, the number of passengers served by the airport grew by 101.8% reaching 108.2 thousand passengers. Most of them – 103.2 thousand passengers are international.

In December, November and October 2016 Zhuliany airport passenger traffic grew by 70.0; 70.2 and 59.7% respectively. Meanwhile as a result of the whole previous year the number of passengers served by the airport grew not that significantly – by 19.4%, to 1.128 million passengers.
