Heliport next to Vnukovo to open in 2017

A full-scale heliport next to Vnukovo airport will be operational by 2017, a Vnukovo-3 spokesperson told Russian Aviation Insider. A helipad with a dedicated 1,000 sqm passenger terminal and hangars will have an independent of the neighbor airport ATC and dispatch center. The 1,000 sqm hangars will house up to 16 Mil Mi-8 sized helicopters or 20 AgustaWestland AW139s. Ten more Mi-8 sized aircraft may be parked on the apron. Fuelling and maintenance capabilities are also in the plans.

The decision to build a heliport to expand Vnukovo-3 (the business aviation sector of Vnukovo) capabilities dates back to 2013, it was supposed to open in 2015. According to Vnukovo’s top-manager Vitaly Vantsev, the heliport will compliment Vnulovo-3’s passenger capacity and provide simple solution for connections between helicopter and business-jet flights.
