“First of all, on behalf of the Russian Olympic Committee, I would like to once again express our sincere gratitude to our longstanding and reliable partner, Aeroflot, for its high quality and extremely professional work ensuring the most comfortable transportation to our Olympic teams. It is no secret that in sport, especially when we refer to the top competitions in the world, no detail can be ignored, and travel of athletes on the eve of the Olympic Games is particularly important. Moreover, events in countries such as South Korea and Japan, which take far more than an hour to fly to, lie ahead of us. Therefore, I am very pleased that today we have signed a new long-term cooperation agreement, which I am sure will be mutually beneficial, and our joint efforts will contribute to the victorious results of our Olympians.”

Vitaly Saveliev, CEO of Aeroflot Russian Airlines, said:

“Throughout its history, Aeroflot has provided comprehensive support to the Olympic movement and to sport in general, helping to strengthen Russia’s image as a leader in the sporting world. For us, flying the Russian Olympic team is not only a tradition, but also an honourable duty and important task as Russia’s national carrier. Aeroflot is also the official carrier of the Russian national football team and the national basketball team, a partner of the Russian Football Union and the All-Russian Volleyball Federation, and a sponsor of the Russian Cycling Federation. We maintain close cooperation with Russian professional sports and outstanding teams with millions of fans both in Russia and beyond its borders. Aeroflot is the official air carrier of the CSKA football and basketball clubs. Our brand is also associated with a global event in the world of chess: the Aeroflot Open is considered the most important open chess tournament in the world.”
